Driving school made easy

To obtain a Florida Learner's Permit you must meet the following requirements:

• Be 15 to 17 years old
• Complete a four-hour drug and alcohol course
• Pass the learner's permit test
• Provide the required documents

If you are 18 or older, you should apply for a Class E driver's license.

The Florida Driver's Licence is officially known as a Class E Driver license. To obtain this you must meet the following requirements:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Complete a four-hour drug and alcohol course
• Pass a vision and hearing test
• Pass the Class E Knowledge Exam
• Pass the Class E Driving Skills Test
• Provide identification and all required documents

If you are under 18, additional requirements apply:

• You must hold a Florida learner's permit for at least 12 months or until you turn 18, whichever comes first.
• You cannot be convicted of any traffic violations within 12 months of the date you received your learner's permit. However, one moving violation will not disqualify you from earning your license if you complete a Basic Driver Improvement (BDI) Course.
• You must have 50 hours of driving experience, including at least 10 hours of night driving. Use a learner's licence driving log to keep track of your hours. You must provide a parental form attesting to your driving experience.

Students must obtain a restricted drivers license / learner's permit prior to the start of their first lesson.

You can book an individual lesson or purchase one of our lesson packages and then book online. Go to the bookings page, choose your instructor, select your date and time and pay online. Reminders will be emailed to you before your lesson. 

Choosing the right lesson package depends on your driving skills, road knowledge, and goals. The 4 hour package is for experienced drivers and includes practice on a specific maneuver such as U-turns, lane changing, basic fundamentals of driving, wheel control, and exposure to street immersion. The 10 hour night drive package is specific for the 10-hour state requirement as part of the 50-hour total behind the wheel drive time and is an add-on for experienced drivers. The 12 hour package is our most popular package and expands upon basic car operation, road knowledge, and street immersion. This is a real time drive in the real world, situational awareness and predictive driver training. This package may also include highway exposure for merging, speed and exiting the roadway.

Buddy Buggs driving lessons offer multiple students in car participation. These lessons are taken with 2 or 3 students in one car and are 3 hours in length. Each student will drive for an equal portion of the lesson time and observe for the remainder of the lesson. These lessons can be booked on Saturdays and Sundays. Buddy Buggs lessons are an excellent way to improve student driving ability through practice and observation, and can offer an engaging alternative to solo lessons.
